Now Reading: Renovations Complete; New Features In Future | Jump To Comments
The renovations here the Community Resource blog are now complete. We have a brand new, easy to use layout that is simple all around - no more confusing and unclear content.
Lets talk about all the new stuff.
The logo is the only link that you can use (other than the back button) to get back to the main blog page here.
The new search box is setup to search only EFx2Blogs. If you need to find a user, post, etc., that is the place to go. Sometimes it doesn't return results, but in most cases, like searching for 'Keith' will.
The new navigation is divided up. The top row has navigation for community things such as the main EFx2Blogs page, Forums, Live Chat, and so forth. Over on the right is the Contact Us link where you can email us for help, questions, or comments. The second row (orange) tells you your status on post alerts (if you are subscribed or want to unsubscribe) as well as the option to only display posts within a certain category to find things easier. Most tutorials are found under 'Design Modification' or 'Community Service.'
The new message box is now set up for greeting purposes, but can also display important news or messages about the community. It is also used as an under construction notice too.
Working our way down, we now have the Tip box. The Tip box will display tips for here on this blog, or a good tutorial to check out. It doesn't cycle automatically, therefore it needs to be updated by hand... but at least you learn some cool new things that may have been burried.
The posts have undergone massive changes. All the post information is now displayed below the post rather than title for less clutter. There is also a new feature called 'Share Post' which will allow you to email a link to that post to anyone whom you thought would like to read it. The author of the post is also now clearly identified not only with name, but with an avatar too.
There is also a new menu over on the right called 'Blog Managers.' This menu lists all the current members of this blog and there level on this blog. If you click on their names, a new tab/window opens taking you to their "home" blog to learn a little more about them.
Below that is the blog reporting menu which is now used for reporting users or spam blogs. I think it's pretty self explanatory.
This is the for the managers (members) of the blog. Right below the User & Blog Reporting menu is a link to the control panel for this blog. I thought it would be helpful. :-)
In the future, there will be many more helpful things added which I will not disclose details on. (Feature/implement requests are also welcome too.) Right now though, I think there is enough to make everyone happy and things a little easier to find.
Welcome! I hope you all enjoy the new Community Resource Blog!
Edit: Tip box was removed because of browser incompatibility. It needs more testing before it is added back in.
