Now Reading: Trackback Spam - Temporary Fix | Jump To Comments
A system wide post has been made on every users blog account with instructions on how to stop trackbacks on already posted posts and how to keep them from happening in the future.
Trackbacks are being used as a loophole so to speak, to allow spam to get in and make spam comments - which is abusing the trackback system. There is currently no way us Community Leaders can globally disable the trackback feature. That is something Keith will need to do, which is why, for the time being we depend on everyone in the community to disable trackbacks on their blog. It's a very good start and we thank you for it.
Now, the post can be deleted by managing your blog posts - so it's not permanent and won't stay there forever.
I am sorry about the huge post thing. The mass email option could've worked, but won't cut it. Everyone doesn't check their email everyday and some people hardly ever which is why we took it to the next level and to make it so everyone knows what is going on and everyone will see it. We think everyone should know about this 'loophole' and should take action into help stopping it until a permanent solution can be done by Keith - the one with more power.
There is no "massive private message" feature available. It's only mass email or a mass post.
Again, sorry about all of this, but we are just doing what us CL's need to be doing and that is communicating with the community rather than leaving them out in the dust...
Yet again, I am personally sorry for this and understand why you do not like it.
